The Red Poll is one of the most commercially successful breeds available, because it will answer the requirements of either the farmer who wants to breed his own suckler herd from existing beef mothers by using a Red Poll bull, or the farmer who uses a terminal sire on Red Poll cows.

For the first farmer, by using a Red Poll bull, he will increase the milk over a long lactation, thus producing a future cow which will be easy calving, long lived, cheap to keep and naturally polled, while still having a full value beef steer to sell.

The farmer who has Red Poll cows and uses a terminal sire will get the benefit of easy calving, natural polling and the maternal ability of the Red Poll cow to rear a continental cross calf, at the most commercial rate to produce beef of the highest quality available in this country.

The pure bred animal while not carrying the continental shape produces beef at a much reduced cost per kg which is considered second to none for quality of taste, texture and repeat order business as any on the market.
